Mid-career journalists in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) can apply to attend a training program on "Reporting Integration: History, Politics and Economics of SADC," from August 16 to 27 in Johannesburg. Deadline: June 14.

The program will aim to enhance the quality of reporting on SADC matters in the regional media, and will be conducted through theoretical lectures, group work and discussions. Participants will be given an introduction to the history, politics and economics of SADC and will deal journalistically with these topics.

Media development organization Frayintermedia invites African journalists to participate in a three-day modular course on interactive social marketing tools, to be held in Johannesburg from June 8 to 10.

The Institute for the Advancement of Journalism (IAJ), South Africa’s premier provider of short courses for journalists, communicators and media practitioners, and the Internal Institute for Journalism (IIJ), In Went, Berlin, invite mid-career journalists (newspapers, news agencies and online media in the SADC region) to apply for a training programme on: Reporting regional integration: History, Politics & Economics of SADC. Course to be held at IAJ Offices: Johannesburg, South Africa on August 16-27, 2010. The course is intended to support journalists from the SADC region.

The Reuters Foundation is inviting journalists from SADC to apply for a course on multimedia reporting, to be held in London September 6 to 10. Deadline: July 15.

The "Multimedia Web tools for journalists" course, to be held in London, will teach newsgathering teams practical ways to take advantage of multimedia tools and methods for finding, developing and presenting stories.
